Nethra offers a range of real-time, codec software libraries that run on the Am2045 codec processor chip, for speeding your video system's time-to-market. The Am2045 is especially compelling for compact PCIe cards or embedded systems where form-factor, thermal and power consumption budgets are tight. For example, the maximum power used is only 1/25 that of a GPU with similar video-compute-capacity, or 1/10 of a similarly capable multi-core x86 CPU.
The video codec libraries are popular for incorporating in portable, multi-format field video recorders, for ingest/playout cards for video-servers, or rack-mount appliances.
The Am2045 is a reprogrammable codec processor that can swap codecs in about a frame-time, and is field-upgradeable with new codec libraries.
The chip also supports flexible chip I/Os for easier embedded system integration. Integrate your video system using the chip's PCIe port, or any of its four GPIO ports.
* VC-3 is a SMPTE standard. Avid Technology contributed their DNxHD format to SMPTE for standardization as VC-3 and treats VC-3 as the master specification with respect to the correctness of its video applications. Avid requires royalty and/or trademark agreements with video systems companies for deployment of systems incorporating this codec.
Nethra also offers a number of Am2045-based boards for system prototyping or deployment.

Here are some examples of advanced video systems enabled by the Am2045.
Telestream's Pipeline HD Dual product uses two Am2045 processors for dual-channel, real-time ingest and playout in 1 RU.
Advanced battery-powered, camera-attached video recorders are also enabled by the Am2045. A simple command interface lets system developers control the Am2045 as a multi-codec device, while retaining the advantage of reprogramming it for different codecs (such as Apple ProRes 422, SMPTE VC-3/DNxHD, DVCPRO-HD, AVC-Intra).
